Revealed: 67% of Tottenham fans want Harry Winks to start against West Ham

Unlocking defences has been a problem for Tottenham this season, particularly at home where they’ve averaged a whopping 64% possession but managed to score just two goals in the Premier League.

The Lilywhites are on the road this weekend but their London derby with West Ham could follow a similar template to those difficult displays at Wembley; the last two meetings in east London have both resulted in 1-0 wins for the home side, with Spurs – somewhat eerily – claiming at least 65% of the ball.

Thus, it appears Tottenham need a slight change in dynamics to weave through those well-organised backlines and the answer could well be youngster Harry Winks.

The 21-year-old midfielder, who Transfermarkt value at just £3.6million, is yet to make a start for the north Londoners this season but has the vision and passing ability to find gaps in tightly-packed defences.

With that in mind, we asked Tottenham fans if they think Winks should start against the Irons and according to our poll, 67% want to see him included in Pochettino’s XI on Saturday.

But can Winks turn around Tottenham’s underwhelming record away at West Ham? Let us know by commenting below…
