Danny Mills swoons over Aston Villa target Pedro

Danny Mills has been singing the praises of Chelsea winger Pedro, claiming he would be a good signing for Aston Villa, as reported by Football Insider.

What did he say?

The Telegraph have reported that Villa are looking to offer Pedro a way out of Chelsea, as he has found himself fading into the background.

This comes with the Spain international having managed just six starts and three substitute appearances in all competitions so far this campaign.

He may not have had much of a chance to show it this season, but Mills has insisted the 32-year-old would make a good signing for Villa:

“Pedro is a quality player, he has won everything there is to win and if he is surplus to requirements at Chelsea, obviously no doubt there will be many teams who will be very interested in him and I can see why.

“He’s got pace, experience and he can get you a goal, all of these type of thing, and he’ll certainly add quality to Aston Villa’s side that’s for sure.”

Hard to argue

Pedro is certainly a player who could be of use to Villa, as signified by his statistics from last season.

Across all competitions, the £13.5m-rated forward managed 36 starts and 16 substitute appearances, amassing a total of 13 goals and five assists.

That tally includes a strike in the 2-0 derby win against Tottenham Hotspur, as well as a goal in the Europa League final victory over Arsenal.

Considering that, it can certainly be suggested that the Spaniard could help Villa out, with goals from the wing being especially useful due to Wesley’s drought of nine matches.

Villa may already have Anwar El Ghazi, Jota, Trezeguet and Jack Grealish who can play on the wings, but this is still definitely a deal worth doing for the club as they bid to stay in the top tier.

In other news, FFC writers have given their judgement on Villa’s prospective centre-back signing.
