Aston Villa boss Steve Bruce, speaking ahead of Saturday’s Championship clash with Sheffield Wednesday, said that he was ‘convinced’ that Mile Jedinak is currently operating in his best position at centre-back.
To suggest that the Villa fans have been unhappy with Jedinak’s continued selection in central defence would be the understatement of the year.
And it is not a surprise that so many reacted negatively to Bruce’s comments from his press conference on Friday.
Villa picked up a much-needed three points against Rotherham United on Tuesday night, but have struggled for form in recent weeks.
The team’s lack of options in defence has meant that Jedinak has been operating alongside James Chester, and the Australian international has not looked all that comfortable for long spells.

The 34-year-old is doing just fine according to Bruce, however, despite the club currently being linked with a deal for James Collins.
